Class Description
Ages: 16 year olds and up.
This class is for all of you who "wish" they had a horse. You will get a general overview of the responsibilities of having a pet of this size. Wear your old blue jeans and boots, if you happen to have them (otherwise, gym shoes are fine), because you will get a chance to do some basic riding.

Horse Anatomy
Grooming - tools and techniques
Learn about the various tack (bridles, saddles, etc.)
Feeding Rules
Health Maintenance
Teeth and Age
Farrier Care
Learn to Halter, Lead, and Tie correctly
Riding Basics
Knowing the Gaits the horse travels in
Rules of the Trail
Safety when working with horses
ADDITIONAL SUBJECTS FOR OUR ADULT STUDENTS
Proper riding posture
Yoga exercises on horseback
Listening to what your horse is saying
Communicating with a horse so that you understand each other
Bareback experience
Riding Patterns and Obstacles
Bring your own lunch and plenty of drinking water.
If you have a helmet, please bring it.
Class space is limited to 6 adults so register early. (Additional dates will be scheduled as the sessions fill.)
NOTE: If the class registration minimum is not met, we regretfully must cancel that session. Be sure to share the session info with your friends!
