Camp Description
This class series was set up for adults interested in building a special relationship with plants. The hard part about learning plants is that they change through the seasons. The goal is to bring awareness to what grows in the North Texas area, so you can spot “free food” everywhere.
Topics to be covered:
Mainly focusing on identification of plants that are edible in our area
When and where its best to gather wild plants
Four edible plant groups that you can find anywhere in the United States
Medicinal values - what part of the plant to use
Essential oils from plants used as medicine
How to store plants when they are in season to use year round
Poisonous Plant look alikes and generally plants to avoid
How and why to grow wild plants in your garden and landscaping
Children are welcome to listen in or they can use the day for Woods Exploration Time. The workshop is really set up for the Parents and other adults.
