Upcoming Dates:  September 2-4, 2023 Labor Day Weekend
Cost: $300 - 16 year olds through adults
Length of Time: Begins at 9:30am on the first day and goes through 3pm on the last day.  3 FULL days, 2 nights. You are welcome to arrive as early as the afternoon of Sept 1st

***Scouts:   We can schedule specific dates for a troop to learn so much more that the basics for Merit badges.

***Children and young teen: Summer camps, family camps, and day camp series are set up to teach these skills for this age set.

Class Description

All the skills taught are directly from the Tom Brown Survival & Wilderness Survival School. Many people read about survival skills but this camp gives you the “hands on” experience needed to really know what needs to be done to survive.

Understand the Survival Sacred Order : Shelter / Water / Fire / Food.

TOPICS INCLUDE:

  • cautions in the woods

  • signaling for help

  • finding natural shelters

  • building a debris hut

  • making cordage

  • where and how to find and gathering water

  • water purification methods

  • building a safe fire knowing its use and proper putting it out

  • starting a fire with alternate methods.  

  • Fire by Friction ie Bow Drill Fire Method

  • learning the basic edibles found across the United States

  • identifying plants to eat in our area / seasonality considerations

  • basic mammal tracking (tracks, scat, & runs)

  • throwing sticks

  • figure 4-trap

  • basic snare

  • primitive fishing methods

  • various other things that are ebible

  • Primitive Cooking methods

  • Survival Packs - what to have with you

This camp brings together people who enjoy being in nature and want to learn how to be prepared for any situation that may arise on one of their adventures.
What to bring:

  • A knife is MANDATORY, and a sharp fixed blade (non-folding) knife is best. You can purchase a Swiss Mora knife from us if needed.

  • Dinners and breakfasts will be provided. Bring your own lunches.

  • Eating utensils, plate, bowl, cup (please do not bring any disposables) Wash stations will be set up for Clean-up.

  • Water bottle - refillable

  • Tent (if you do not plan on sleeping in your debris shelter)

  • Sleeping bag & pad

  • Notebook, pencils


    NOTE : All classes have a minimum number of registrants to make or sorry to say it will be cancelled. So bring your friends and tell everyone you know.
