Class Description

These classes are intended to bring children of all ages closer to nature and help them feel at home in the woods. We teach the skills the Native Americans used to live in harmony with their surroundings. During their short stay we hope to shift their awareness of the natural world around them.

Fun activities and woods time will include:

  • Mammal Tracking

  • Insect Identification

  • Useful Trees

  • Edible Plants

  • Fish in the Pond

  • Bird Calls, Songs and Habitats

  • Woods Cautions

  • North Texas wildlife

  • Fox Walking

  • Aid-less Navigation

  • Learn to use a compass

 Other Activities include:

  • Archery

  • Horseback Riding

  • Canoeing and kayaking

  • Swimming

  • Craft making

  • Nature Hikes

  • Star gazing & constellations

  • Drumming

What to bring? Candy and cookies seem to attract ants and other critters to your sleeping area, best to leave them at home.  We do serve snacks every afternoon.

Older Campers are welcome to bring their own tents and will be grouped together to learn more advanced skills.

Please Note: All classes have a minimum number of participants in order to run.  If the minimum is not met, we are sorry to say it will be cancelled.  Sessions do fill quickly most of the time, so register early for best availability! For an even better experience, be sure to share the camp information with your friends, so they can attend too.
